Should I go back to the meetings???

i stopped going for a few months and have been real busy with work using this as a bit of an excuse to not go.

my family has gone on as if not much has changed and i feel marginalize as my family goes on and does scocial thing with the ones in the hall etc.

most of my kids are under the age of 11 and so i don't know if i tell them little things if it really sinks in anyway.

i know of a lot of atheists who have come to their nonbelief by actually reading the bible rather than just the fluffy stories they choose to tell you about in church, she said.

reading the full story with all its contradictions and violence and sexism, it should make you think, is this really what i believe in?

in the uk in black and asian communities female genital mutilation(fgm) or destruction of the clitoris and the labia of young girls is practised.

this horror is common in the uk, it is illegal and has been for 28 years but there has not been one prosecution.. this got me thinking.

Another side of the circumcision story is that a circumcised glans is caloused and less sensitive, therefore the ladies have more fun time before the bomb drops.

Maybe Jehovah reckoned that if the ladies had more fun with Jews, he could grow his cult faster?

I find it kind of contrary to be so well versed in something you don't believe in.

I see no reason why someone who is well versed in 'alien abduction' should believe in it. They may have a good understanding of how such a delusion comes to it's believers and I see that as an interesting reason to study the phenomena. Why were they interested in the first place? If your Dad believed alien abduction instead of the WT or Allah, Buddha, whatever, what would you be well versed in? If you studied it, would you believe it?

science imo does not have all the answers.

when i discover gaps in science, it's easy for me, as a temporary measure to fill in the gaps with god.

i do this until i have learnt something new.. what about you?

I don't have a problem knowing that I don't know. Often, it turns out later that the question had more problems than the rote answers provided by the questioner.

Lee's curated Best of was very handy for me, and I still use it via archive.org. I see no need to delete it in order to create a 'better' Best Of. I think it needs to be able to be accessed by the general public without having to jump through hoops that they don't know exist and that it's contents need be up there with jwfacts in Google hits.

For me, it just needs to be rid of the code that the Watchtower's hackers have managed to slip past Simon to make it unuseable. Now that Lee isn't active here, a new curator would be good. Or maybe Lee could come back and curate it

By insisting on a 'Bible only' study with someone who doesn't know WT history & doctrines, you are cutting your right arm off. They can pretend the WT said whatever they want to pretend it said and blame the consequences on whoever they want to blame them on, and then tell you to call the dogs off when you've broken your own rule and pull out a WT ragazine to demonstrate they are out of order.

You need them to explain to you the results of searching the WT CD for 'selling homes short time remaining'..... using a Bible.

You need them explaining to you a lot of crap the WT teaches ..... using a Bible. Choose what you want them to explain carefully, and then control the subject so that they can't sneak out the back door without confronting the issue that you raised.

for more years then i'd like to count, one jw relative has never called to see how i was doing.

today she calls out of the blue, asks how i am, and if there's anything she can do for me.

as of late another jw relative has been a lot more communicative.

How come god didn't know that? In chapter 2 he realises that Adam hasn't got a Squeeze. He'd done the male and female thing for a whole bunch of other animals then it's completely slipped his perfect, all wise, all seeing, all knowing, mind, that the pinnacle of his creation has a penis that is completely useless when it comes to procreating the species. Or had he forgotten that too?
